Rosacea treatment

What triggers rosacea in Miami

South Florida's intense UV, heat, and humidity are major rosacea triggers. Common additional triggers include alcohol, spicy foods, exercise, and stress. A journal of flares helps us identify patterns and build a avoidance plan alongside treatment.

Our approach

  1. Accurate diagnosis — rosacea has four subtypes (erythematotelangiectatic, papulopustular, phymatous, ocular) that need different treatments.
  2. Topicals — metronidazole, azelaic acid, ivermectin cream, and brimonidine (for redness).
  3. Oral antibiotics — low-dose doxycycline for anti-inflammatory effect (not just antimicrobial).
  4. Laser / IPL — pulsed dye laser and IPL are the most effective treatments for persistent redness and broken capillaries that topicals can't reach.
  5. Sun protection — mineral SPF 30–50 every morning; this is non-negotiable in Miami.

Realistic expectations

Rosacea is managed, not cured. Flares can be minimized and symptoms dramatically reduced with consistent treatment. Most patients see meaningful improvement in 4–8 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Can rosacea be cured?
Rosacea is a chronic condition without a permanent cure, but symptoms can be well-controlled. With the right treatment plan, most patients experience far fewer and less severe flares.
Does the sun make rosacea worse?
Yes — UV is one of the most common rosacea triggers. Daily mineral sunscreen is part of every rosacea treatment plan we design.
